Personal Teaching Philosophy
I approach teaching with a constructivist view. Learners come from different backgrounds, and each has unique skills and experiences that are valuable to their education and classroom function. They develop knowledge by building on previous concepts and perspectives. Students' experiences affect how they perceive information in the classroom since they add learned information to prior knowledge.
The social aspect and cooperation of viewpoints are essential to constructing knowledge and personality. I believe it is a foundational element to build a trusting relationship between teacher and student, valuing individual needs of the students in order to achieve academic and emotional success. It is equally essential for students to build resilience, generosity, and respect when working and speaking with peers. If they practice these crucial skills at a young age, they are more likely to implement them into their adult lives. Students must engage in learning by building meaning and applying it to life outside the classroom. It is important as an educator to foster motivation and passion for subjects. To do this, students must be the facilitators of their own learning, have choices, be creative, and teachers must validate their feelings.
When I complete my Bachelor of Education degree, I hope to teach High School science. I intend to positively impact my students by fostering an enjoyable and supportive classroom. During my field experience, I gained valuable insights into the teaching profession and learned some creative teaching methods that I plan on using when I become a teacher. I strive to make clear and attainable standards for my students, while supporting their well-being. I look forward to connecting with my future students and guiding their learning journey!
