My Story
My name is Rayna Bender. I was born and raised in Lloydminster, Alberta. My immediate family consists of an older sister, a younger brother, my mom, my dad, and a Labrador dog. I graduated with a French immersion diploma in 2022 from Holy Rosary High School. I now compete for the Lakeland Rustlers Rowing team in Vermilion, Alberta. I'm very easy-going, organized, motivated, caring, and determined. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and playing various sports. My desire to become a teacher was significantly influenced by my parents, who are both educators. As I grew up and watched my parents grow in their professional lives and the impact they made on their students, I was inspired to follow in their footsteps. Additionally, I had the privilege as a student to have learned from several highly passionate teachers. These teachers were supportive, and we created meaningful connections, which led me to be interested in building relationships with students as well. For a couple of years, I worked as a lifeguard and a water safety instructor at the local pool in Lloydminster. This job gave me valuable insights into teaching a class, creating lesson plans, and working alongside educators. Through this experience, I decided to continue teaching as a professional career.
