HEART care Planning

What can you do, during your practicum, to take care of yourself for twenty minutes each day?

- Practicing mindfulness and using breathing techniques throughout the day

- Exercising daily and eating healthy meals

- Ensuring I connect with my family and friends

What does your partner teacher recommend?

My partner teacher makes sure that I am aware of the factors and consequences of burnout and makes sure that I am comfortable and prepared for my lessons. She tells me about her own experience of ensuring that you can maintain a work-life balance and take care of your health to bring your best self to class everyday

How can you integrate health and wellbeing strategies into your lesson planning?

In my lessons, I include plenty of opportunities for students to move their bodies and work collaboratively. Although I am in a math classroom, health and well-being of my students is foundational to their success and learning.

Areas of strength and areas for growth

I believe I am very well organized and creative. I put a lot of effort and thought into my lessons and make them fun for my students. An area of growth is that I should be more confident in myself and build my skills over time to connect better with my students and staff.
